More About Lagler Trio Floor Smoother and Sander
The Trio made by Lagler is a floor smoother. A floor smoother makes a floor perfectly flat and scratch free. The finished product of a floor smoother like the Trio is un-rivaled by any buffer on the market. Every hardwood flooring company should have a trio or floor smoother for their flooring process.
How does a Lagler Trio Work?
A Trio is essentially a big orbital sander. It has a main head that goes in a circle and then 3 more heads on that head spinning as well. This sort of spinning creates a random scratch pattern. When using the right grit progressions you can virtually see no scratching on a floor, homeowners will be in awe.
The girt progression commonly used (depending on the wood!):
– 60 grit belt
– 80 grit trio
– 120 grit trio
How to use the Trio
The trio is a sanding machine that comes after the belt sanding. It is used to make a floor flat, it uses the 3 discs to level the floor and get rid of any micro bevels in the wood after the first belt sand. It is surprising how good it is at leveling the floor.
Hallways are now easier, you can cross grain the wood with a belt sander at 60 grit and then 60 grit Trio and all cross grain marks come out. This makes tight spaces much easier and looking so much nicer. It also makes any hallways or tight spaces much flatter and not have any classic hump’ing going on in those spaces.
Staining and the Trio
Staining is a breeze with a trio. If you use the Trio properly and use the right progression you do not need to worry about seeing any sanding marks. Since the Trio gets within a few inches of the baseboard it will make sure the full floor is evenly done and the stain will come out much better.
Overview on what the Trio Does

Floor Sander Supply Review
The Trio made life so much easier when we began using the Lagler Trio. I spent over 2-3 days researching finding little information about the machine and went to my local distributor and they had little information on the machine as well. I decided to pull the trigger on the machine ans am happy I did. The machine has upped our final outcome of floors significantly compared to what we use to do.
Durability
The machine is very durable, the only weakness we have seen is that the plastic piece/shroud can break but it is not the most important piece to the machine and the machine will function without it. Other than that plastic piece nothing has ever broken in over 300 jobs.
Reliability
The Lagler Trio is reliable every time we use it. With only a few things to maintain the machine is like the Hummel in that it is a simple machine. You will need to only clean-out the main head every week for dust but it takes 5 minutes max and you are on your way.
Performance
The Trio easily out performs any buffer or buffer attachment. I can say that every floor we have done after receiving the machine was better then when we used a buffer or a Bona mult-tool.
